Ahhh! This is were we get to talk about ourselves...Rocket Science for Kids is about helping students understand how to approach curiosity. We believe each student needs to know how to use what they instinctively know to enhance the world. Every student isn't a sports star, some are theater enthusiast, and others perhaps are musically inclined. Our goal is to reach the students who enjoy science, technology, engineering and math. Those students who simply ask questions of their everyday world. To help them not only reach for the stars but build the robotic telescope that allowed them to discover a few new stars.
Director, Lead Instructor
Michael Calahan has 10+ years of experience creating a STEM based learning environment that capitalizes on the use of a well known toy - LEGO. Michael spent his childhood ordering LEGO through the mail as C.O.D (cash-on-delivery). Needless, to say he still has the mind of a child when it comes to engineering a fun, creative, and innovative way to play. He has spent the past decade serving over 5,000 students a plate of fun, innovation, and creativity. His previous work with several large scale toy retailers allows him to combine his experience with toys, management, education and client care to create an innovative environment called Rocket Science for Kids. Michael currently volunteers in the community as a robotics mentor and head judge for the First LEGO League (FLL), Jr. First LEGO League (Jr. FLL), First Tech Challenge (FTC) and First Robotic Competition (FRC). You can also find him hanging out with te AFOL (Adult Fans of LEGO ) DFW area.
"We really like to do cool stuff with LEGO gears, levers, and pulleys. Putting our ideas in motion."
— MICHAEL CALAHAN
Our mission is to help students access exploratory learning through interactive play with LEGO, DUPLO, LEGO Technics, and LEGO Robotics (Mindstorm, WeDo, and EV3).
Allowing each student to further their interest in STEM based learning. To simply continue to build the cool stuff that pops into our heads out of LEGO.
